I come from 25 years of documentary filmmaking where I interviewed hundreds of people from all walks of life, and for me a portrait is not a one-way process, it's establishing a relationship. It's the ability to be there and to see beyond the outer shell of a person. 
Here are some examples of my work. Some are taken on the street, some are posed, most are shot during an interaction between us.
